You die, they will be discharged and your estate will not need to pay them if you still have federal student loans when. This can include Direct Subsidized Loans, Direct Unsubsidized Loans, Direct Consolidation Loans and Federal Perkins Loans.
A person who represents you, often member of the family, will have to provide evidence of death before the financial obligation is released. Such evidence might consist of
- The death certificate that is original
- A certified copy associated with the death certification or
- An exact and of the above mentioned
This evidence needs to be submitted into the loan servicer.
